"Up to the Minute - AIDS and COVID-19"

June, 2021 marked the 40th anniversary of the first description of AIDS.  Lessons from HIV/AIDS are pertinent to the COVID-19 response.  Drs. Lawrence Chessin, Rae-Ellen Kavey, and William Valenti discuss the AIDS pandemic experience locally, as well as the similarities and differences between the 2 pandemics.

Thank you to Dr. Kavey for her contribution to RAoM's COVID-19 Archive, and for her book,  "Viral Pandemics - From Smallpox to COVID-19"

Video featuring the Rochester City Ballet and The Draper Center for Dance

The arts can help us to emotionally navigate the journey of battling illness or injury, to process difficult emotions, and to even help us physically recover from injury or disease.  Join us for a behind the scenes look as the Rochester City Ballet and Draper Center for Dance show us how they develop events that bring celebration of the arts to our community.

Wednesday, 11/17/21:

"Our Healthcare Heroes' Heroes"

Nothing compares to the joy of coming home to a loyal companion.  The unconditional love of a pet can do more than keep you company.  Pets may also decrease stress, improve heart health, and even help children with their emotional and social skills.

Healthcare providers have shared stories of the support they feel from their animal family members especially in the stressful environment they have been facing during the pandemic. We’ve compiled some of the photos that have been shared by our healthcare heroes, and invite you to sit back, relax, and spend a few minutes enjoying a slideshow starring these fur babies!

Thursday, 11/18/21:

Compassion Fatigue - Putting the Caregiver First

Providing care to others - whether in healthcare, emergency services, law enforcement or in our own families - can be both highly rewarding and highly stressful. The COVID-19 pandemic has placed unprecedented demands on caregivers in all professions and left many people in these professions depleted, burned out, and experiencing compassion fatigue. Our panelists will discuss their experiences working through the pandemic, how it has affected them or their colleagues and some ways to address and prevent compassion fatigue.

RaoM Salon Concert

Music is well established to reduce stress and improve mood. Listening to music increases the neurotransmitter dopamine, an integral part of the brain's pleasure-reward system.

Join us for an evening of classical pieces performed by musicians who are masters of their craft!

Friday, 11/19/21:
