Ryan Johnson is the Executive Director of The Rochester Academy of Medicine located in the historic Lyon Home at 1441 East Ave. While new to the role Ryan is excited to carry on the rich tradition that the Academy has laid forth, focusing on the Mission and Vision and staying true to the core values of Collaboration, Integrity, Leadership and Diversity. 

Prior to joining the Academy of Medicine, Ryan headed the Hospitalist Program for Rochester Regional Health for the past six years. A role in which he was responsible for ensuring the six hospitals in the health system were all properly staffed and equipped to deal with the explosion in the number of hospitalized patients in upstate New York during the COVID pandemic.  Further, in this role Ryan saw firsthand how vital collaboration among all the healthcare providers and systems is to be able to provide care to the community. Throughout the course of the pandemic the issue of combatting provider burnout became an area of passion for Ryan. Ryan believes that the Academy of Medicine will become an integral player for all healthcare providers in the Rochester to help in combatting this troubling trend, viewing the Academy as providing care for the providers so they can best take care of their patients.

Ryan graduated from Florida Atlantic University in Boca Raton, FL with a bachelor’s degree in Healthcare Administration and is currently working towards his Master’s Degree in Healthcare Policy and Leadership at the University of Denver. 

Ryan was born outside of Boston, Massachusetts and raised in Seneca Falls, NY. He now lives in Pittsford with his wife, Kalie and three children, Reese, Georgia, and McCoy. In his personal time, you can find Ryan golfing, enjoying the outdoors, and spending time with his young family.
